I am making a pieced table runner. At first I wasn't going to quilt, it, but I have changed my mind. I'm using Warm and Natural batting. I just want to do very basic quilting like a diagonal from one side to the other then cross to make an "X." The runner is only going to 10'' wide by 56'' long with a total of 7 or 8 "X's"
I don't have the right walking foot for my machines, don't want to order and have to wait, either. Let me know, thanks Bert

Of course you need a walking foot, silly boy. You're doing this on your FW? You need a penguin. Just ask Lynn.

Any other questions?

I'm a very old boy. A penguin sells for over six-hundred dollars. It's a very small table runner with very light batting. Won't pinning be enough? Bert

I would loan you my penguin.

If I had one.

Seriously, I'm not a quilter, but I've pieced stuff. W/o a walking foot. It's certainly helpful in certain situations, but I can't imagine that you would NEED one.

But then, you didn't NEED those Featherweights either, did you? Or the 301?

Okay, they ARE way cheaper unless they are historic antiques and highly coveted. I just want to get this jolly chrismas table runner on my table and don't want to wait for a special order for my super-high shank Kenmores or my 301. I do have a new one for the 221 but, honestly that teeny machine intimidates me. Think Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum ! I am too big to use that dainty little thing. Plus it's for piecing and not really quilting, isn't it? Bert

See if you can find a darning foot for the machine for much less $$ and do the stitching free motion. I love doing free motion sewing.
