Saw a Chanel jacket with a light mesh type fabric for the lining. Does anyone know what it is??

My best guess is silk chiffon.

I think it's either "stretch tulle" or "power mesh." Sandra Betzina talks about it in her Power Toolbox books. Apparently, it's gotten REALLY popular.

Thanks Nancy K & SewVeryCreative for the information. It is probably the power mesh or tulle. Thanks for information.

I used power mesh from EOS to line a wool cardigan. Works very well. It's cozy and slippery enough, yet never any static.

Thanks for the tip purplebouquet. I glad to know as I ordered some samples from EOS last night to check out the power mesh. Was it difficult to sew on??? Did it stretch alot when sewing???

If this is a real Chanel jacket I'd be more inclined to think it silk mesh than a tricot of some sort. Only the best, most expensive fabrics are used in a Chanel jacket.

silk mesh or silk tulle

Not readily available, but available as M1108 near the bottom of the page
here.

There are some other sources. Just google silk tulle.

I agree with Nancy: The likelihood that a true Chanel would be lined with a stretchy synthetic is very small.

The fabric was see thru as it reminded me of a mesh/netting with small holes. Very light, not scratchy, not limp. Unusual, something I hadn't seen before (but not surprising, as I don't now alot about fabrics)
I cant say it was limp/sagging. Will check out the links, thanks!
