How does is come back out? (Moderated by Sharon1952, EleanorSews)

Hi,
really need help, I fitted the knee lift bar to my Janome 4900 a while back to try it out to see if I like it. Now I have my serger sat to the right I find its in the way and I want to remove the bar.
Do you think I can get it out again. I've pulled hard, looked carefully, looked in the manual. How the heck does this thing come out??
I really want it off and am almost thinking DH can hacksaw the bar off if we can't remove it.
Help!!

Giggling. This is the story of my life! Car went dead while driving, just a mile short of work. Just when coworker was getting to me to pick me up, I tried again and presto-cured! I bought her a welcome-to-sewing kit for her inherited Bernina 830 as a thank you gift.

This happened to me once.
You are right: it was scary. I ended up calling the store and he told me to just yank HARD to get it out-wouldn't hurt anything. He told me to spray some WD40 on it next time I inserted. Hope that doesn't gunk it up, but it didn't stick next time I pulled it out.

I had this happen on my 6600 and felt really stupid calling the tech who said pull really hard!
He said the way the coupling is designed there is not damage you cand do. I spayed a little silicone on the tip of the knee lifter and never had a problem since.

Silicon sounds better than that AWFUL WD40 which reeks and is really overkill. Little graphite might help too. I don't have a knee lift, but this is sure a good detail to know!

Thanks for the info. I will use silicon next time. Like you Carrie, I am now reluctant to put it in unless I know I am going to be ''needing'' to use it!
