Hi
I'm in the UK and was wondering if anyone has good/bad reviews of this machine. Janome 4900
It's going to be used for garment sewing, costumes, huge skirts, corsets and whatever else I can throw at it.
So good/bad?

Hi,
I bought one of those from Sewing machines direct end of last year and so far I am really pleased with it.
I find it easy to use and also quiet. Mine came with the large extension table which is helpful for big items of fabric.
We have been renovating our house so I haven't done too much on it yet but its certainly a machine to grow into as I'm sure it has more stitches than I'm ever likely to need.
I've just ordered some extra feet for it and like the fact that the feet are not expensive to buy. Also all the main set of feet are stored in the top of the machine each having its own space to fit in. Makes everything tidy and easy to get to. Stitch selection is easy just push the number button. There are a couple of straight stitches I am using all the time, one where it automatically reverses at the start of seam and end, and the other one where it does a securing stitch at the start and end of the seam.

I'm learning dressmaking at a local adult ed class and have made DD a dress and I'm working on a fleece top at present. It seems happy with the different fabrics so far.

When I've owned it a while longer I will post a review sometime.
