I just wondered what people are cooking for Easter dinner this year? We are thinking of going out this year with DH cousin & 2 friends. ........... Anyone have a good recipe for peach pie? DH wants peach pie & coffee for desert when we get back.

So what is everyone cooking this Easter Sunday coming up soon?

Having Easter dinner at my sister's home ~ she &her DH and me. She will have a spiral sliced ham, probably asparagus, a starch, dinner rolls, salad, and cheesecake w/ strawberry topping. That's her Easter menu...

ETA: I will bring wine...

I'm going to my mother-in-law's house for Easter. We celebrate Russian Orthodox Easter, which this year is the same day as "regular' Easter.

I'm making Kulich and Pashka - that is the traditional sweet bread and vanilla flavored cheese spread that celebrates the end of the Lent fast. Really delicious and just about my favorite Russian food! I come from an Irish-Scottish background, but after 24 years in a Russian family I've learned to enjoy their ethnic heritage.

Wikipedia article on Kulich

Wikipedia articla on Pashka

My pashka mold makes pashka that looks just the photo in the article!

Suo ergo maledicto

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. - Steve Jobs

We make the Greek style Easter bread... Tried to make Kulich for Pascha but it has never come out good for me. The yai yais (Grandmas) bake the Kulich in coffee cans. .........
Thank you for sharing that.

We usually have ham for Easter, but this year my husband has requested meatloaf! He asked for the same thing for his birthday in December. Apparently he likes my (really my mother's) receipt LOL. Since it's just the two of us for Easter, I'll oblige him. Will probably have asparagus with it, and I'm thinking popovers instead of a traditional starch. With lots of butter. Yummmmm....

I'm still prowling the local grocery's meat section looking for a large leg of lamb so I can have it sliced and toss some into the freezer for summer grilling ... they usually carry it only for the Easter season but this year I haven't seen it at all

My mom is hosting dinner this year and she'll probably have ham and Ukrainian side dishes. I'll be bring a dish but do not know what as of yet. I wouldn't mind trying to make a Paska bread this year. We'll see.

I'm having about 30 people over so we're roasting a lamb on a spit and a turkey and chicken for the non-lamb eaters. Good thing there's no vegetarians in my family. We'll have an Easter egg hunt for the kids, eat way too much chocolate and the men will spend most of the day drinking beer staring at the lamb go round and round. On that note...It. Better. Not. Snow. on Easter weekend. I am truly finished with winter . I cannot handle any more white stuff this far into April.
