inner thighs, reinforcing, holes (Moderated by arianamaniacs)

Any of you ladies have this problem? And do you have any suggestions as to what I can do now that the fabric is worn through so I can save these pants? They were not cheap ones and I only have the two to wear to work so I wear them aLOT.
I also wonder what I can do to new pants (or ones that I will sew) to ward off this problem? And how to do this without it looking obvious on the outside but yet not rub my inner thighs raw from too stiff of an enforcement?

Having a cotton half lining seems to reduce the wear a bit.

If you have some matching fabric, you could make a gusset. photos NAYY Shape the gusset so that it removes the damaged fabric.

I like the idea of a gusset, as I could swap out a worn one with a newer one and no one would be wiser.
Not sure what a half lining is but am sure I can search PR for it. At this point I'm willing to try anything as there is nothing wrong with these pants other than the crotch from my thunder thighs. ;<

A pant-slip or longline undies (like bike shorts only in softer fabrics, with no inseam) is not only more comfortable, it reduces VPL and I've found my pants wear better too.

The half lining I made is like the half pants slip Dotmoll suggests, which is actually a more practical option. It does cut down the wear, not completely, but a bit, and add to the comfort.

You need to stay the fork in your pants or shorts. In new projects, sew a triangle of doubled lining (or pocketing, or the fashion) fabric to the back crotch point. You can figure out how big to make the triangle from the location where your holes are forming. Fold the triangle so the folded edge is free and the raw edges get sewn into the seams.
It's surprising how little it takes. Basically, you just need to provide another layer or two to slide over one another. It's the friction that wears through (on my pants, too).
You can do something similar for an existing pair. If there's no hole already, you can sew a reinforcement to the SAs. If there is a hole or it's threadbare, you need to try to color match your stay and padstitch the outer fabric to the stay. I use a free-motion foot and just sort of tack it down.

Would this show if the holes are towards the front like where men's pockets rub & rub on the pants toward the very front lower near zipper? Oh I hope this makes sense. I have been putting patches on the inside but then they can no longer be worn for work. ..............Do you think it would help to put this on before new pants are worn then?
Thank you for the suggestion.

You get these wear holes on the pants fronts? Well, if the pants are rubbing between your legs, adding a couple of extra layers should help.
Yes, you can definitely do this before you wear them.
Once the holes form, you might be able to stitch so that it won't be really obvious, but I wouldn't expect too much, especially if the fabric has a smooth finish.

Oh from having keys & things in pockets all day... & now DH likes to carry a metal wallet rather than cloth all in front pockets. .... that is my mistake not to clarify!....Thank you for your advice!
