Re: **NEW** Janome Horizon MC 12000 Check out the video! (posted on 9/3/11 9:07 PM ET)
Hi Ladies!

Some months ago I wrote about the rumor circulating regarding the new Janome MC 12K machine. Today I was able to watch a video about the new machine and it looks like Janome has outdone itself. You can watch the video at

http://www.horizonmemorycraft12000.com/

It won't be in stores until October 1, 2011 but dealers are playing with it now. I love the fact that it has 10 lights and a flex light overhead that I can direct so my poor little peepers don't get strained and 11" to the right of the needle. The one thing that wasn't revealed (of course) is the price. I sure it will be right up there with the cost of a good used (I hope) or worse NEW car (gulp). If anyone here knows how hefty the tag is on this please post! Janome Horizon 12000

So have you decided if you're going to buy the 11000SE or hold out for the 12000 now that you know more about it? I haven't researched much into the high-end Janome machines so I wonder what the difference between the reduced price of the 11000SE and the 12000 will be. It will be very interesting to find out exactly how much dealers are going to sell the 12000 for!

I am TORN!!! I worry that the new machine will be loaded with glitches like the 11K was when it first came out. On the other hand, the 12K IS a dream machine. Honestly there just isn't enough information available yet. Does it have an "eye" or scanner to ensure that the design is located properly? The construction makes it an absolute BEAST (steel plate construction inside). I have to wait until October to demo it. Ultimately, if the 12K does win out I will likely wait until the Elna version comes out or until the glitches are out of the system. AND it's going to depend on the $$$ if this is near the 10K I hear it is then forget it!

I know it's a tough decision. I don't get to sew much at all but I still think about, research like crazy, window shop til I drop, test test test, and agonize over buying a new sewing machine. I guess it will come down to which machine is more intuitive for you and the one you bond with. A steep discount on the 11kSE will help a little too, right?

Absolutely! I am just like you in that I

I would love to get a steep discount on an 11KSE. Truthfully I can't really justify $10K for a sewing machine, or even $8K. A lot of people seem to think the 12K is ugly but I like it's industrial look. And I happen to love black and white as a color combo. 11" to the right of the needle and steel plate construction are huge structural advantages that the 11KSE simply doesn't have to offer. I just wish there were more details available!

Now that the new 12000 has been unveiled, I can't believe that someone... like one of the Janome dealers now attending the conference haven't done a you tube video or at least given us more info on the machine. I goggled and found one more piece of info. It has a new dual feed unique to this machine, along with the other few new features released with the unveiling video. Has anyone received an email or phone call from their Janome dealer with any updated info, other than they can try it out next month ? I really enjoyed the video, and thought the girls showed compassion and love for the young couple. Wonderful that they could be expecting a baby, when they were given the sad news. I think the machine is very sturdy and handsome looking, not ugly at all.

I found the little strip of light on the front interesting!(above the Horizon name):

I agree with you completely. There is no reason why the specs can't be released. After all, the machine is already through it's first round of production, and has shipped (6-8 weeks on the water from China/Japan) so Janome knows exactly what the dimensions are, etc. I REALLY want to know!! Does it have an 'eye' and multi-directional sewing? I just visited my Baby Lock dealer this morning - she came back yesterday from 2 weeks of conferences but thrilled with the new TOLs. She deals with Elna too, not Janome though. That said, I was interested to discover that the new Elna TOL is due out in the spring. They always put their version of the Janome TOL out well after the initial release. That is why I kinda prefer the Elna since they work out all the kinks from the Janome version before their release.
