I am thinking of ways to keep the sm safe & secure yet easy for me to get to during our downsizing. I came across a double trolly on Overstock.com & was wondering how would it be to put two of the sm in there one in top & one in bottom & their accessory cases next to them. .... this would be for a longer term not just a few days. The trolly is fabric & zipper both compartment....

Hemline Sew Easy Burgundy Floral 2-bag Trolley/ Embroidery Set
Compare: $149.99
Today: $111.99

What do you think for a longer term solution? Remember now we are going to much smaller place ... so this would probably be wheeled into a closet for them to stay in. ....
Thank you!

It does not look like the top bag is designed for a sewing machine. It says in the Ad that the top section is
Quote:
Slim yet generous embroidery attachment bag with extra pockets and a handy carry strap

I am not sure how much time you have, but for the same or less money you could buy a luggage set with wheels for both your machines. First you need to measure both machines to determine just how big a bag you need.

I was lucky I found a huge Viking, sewing machine trolley for $12.00 a few years ago. As well as my embroidery machine, it fits accessories and class projects. I found a wheeled trolley for my serger at a local chain store for 50% off. I can stack the serger trolley on top of the sewing machine one.

Before I found the above trolleys I used regular luggage. I still use luggage for my back up machine.

Kitty I have to be honest with you here. I don't think you should spend that kind of money right now. Do you perhaps have a suitcase you could use for now. Or maybe pick up something at a thrift store..
I would think to store them you should use their originally boxes if you still have them.. Not only would they give your machines the best protection.. but that way you can store both the machines and the boxes..
Those bags and trolleys are nice. but not really good protection from being bumped or having something fall on them.. A good hardsided suitcase would be my next choice. Try to avoid putting them up on a shelf.. and don't put them directly on the floor until you have them in a box or such..

DH just said the same thing... cannot spend anymore money on the sm kids right now... This may sound silly to allot of posters.......... but I am concerned about the sm..... will they be okay in a closet, not used as often as they are use to.... I know I am so goofy! ........ most of the older ones are not coming.....
I will look for very sturdy boxes then. I do have one original box I can use for one of them. .......
Thank you!

Long term solution........

Sturdy boxes from the liquor store, sturdy plastic bags, tape.

Carefully wrap your machine in a closed plastic bag and set it down into box number one. Pad any empty space with the next fabric that you might be working with.

You'll probably need to securely tape together two boxes to make your outer box. Roll some of your smaller pieces of fabric and place the rolls across the bottom of the second box. Don't pack it tight, you want to maintain a bouncy, cushiony effect. Place the first box on top of the cushion in the second box. If you have any concerns about the storage area, put the whole first box into a sealed plastic bag before inserting into the second box.

Now, cushion the walls of the second box. Again, you can insert vertical fabric sausages. Or, you can insert empty scavenged and scrushed water bottles between the first and second boxes.

I've had could luck with thoroughly taping everything except the top of my boxes. At the box top, put a strip of regular packing tape on each side of the box. Now, use painter's tape or masking tape to seal across the box top. When you use painter's tape across the regular packing tape, you can remove and reapply it repeatedly to get in and out of the box.

Oh good ideas... using stash to have padding... ..... I can use my yarns too for padding & have them in ziploc bags now. ... Thank you!

We do have a cloth suitcase I can use for crafts some. It is not large but it would hold somethings. ; )

I was going to PM you 7yrstitch but the system would not do it for some reason....?

I'm not a paying member, could that be why you can't PM me? I've tried a couple of times to PM others and it didn't work. Or, my super techie son could have insurmountable virus and security software embedded somewhere in the computer.

Just posting to wish you luck and hope the move goes okay!!

We are selling our house and have had one low offer so far, hoping for a good price soon. Been out to view a few houses, this whole process is such hard work.

Hope you and your sm get settled in your new place and feel at home quickly.

A while back I looked at one of those shopping trolly bags old ladies have, room for machine at the bottom & all fabric on top.

I've sold quite a few machines & am getting down to just the ones I actually use now.
