LOVE this dress! It's B5674

Recommended fabrics are Moderate Stretch knits. Most of the ("special occasion") fabrics I pictured in my head are stretch wovens, not knits.
ETA: Do you think it's Silk Jersey?!

Most silk jerseys will give you that exact look.
I vote for silk. It would be perfect for that dress !

Ack...I LOVE the way it looks! But $40 a yard for a wear once dress is pretty steep...Granted, a similar RTW dress would be much more expensive...but I'm pretty frugal & usually buy dresses on clearance.

It does look like silk jersey. Click here. I hope someone else has it for less than $52 a yard, though.

JennaF, How about a more tailored skirt or
sexy pants in a different fabric that is more versatile? Then go for the big pizzaz and the big dollars in the top? You would end up with two pieces that would be stylish for a very long time if you divvied them up.
What do you think, sleek pants, boyfriend jacket and the top of this pattern in a blouse for one look?
Pencil skirt and blouse like this with whatever heels you girls are wearing for another look?
Although the skirt part is pretty, it is the top of the dress that is classic. Even my mom had a hot number back in the 50's with the same type of bodice in a dress. And, come to think of it, my Grandma had her version too! I was scanning some of her pictures not too long ago and have started calling her Grandma Hottie
We lost her just six years ago, hope she doesn't mind the new title.

I found this at Mood Fabrics. Not exactly silk jersey, but it might be workable, unless you're looking for that high sheen.

I understand, if it's only to wear once ...
Just so you know, sometimes Goergeous Fabrics has silk jersey at $30, even $25 :
Aubergine silk
That would be $60 for your dress.
Ok, I leave you alone

I think it is a synthetic. It seems like I have seen this type of knit at JoAnn at some point. Maybe they called it knit charmeuse or something similar. Lightweight satin moleskin - I made that name up but that is what it looks like to me. The back darts and not so attractive hem on the back view photo suggest the fabric is much more stable than a silk knit.

Wow those are beautiful fabrics but I would have to agree... The most I ever spent a yard was just recently I spent 19.99 a yd at Fabricmart to get the mystery bundle. And I feel really guilty about that so guilty I probably will make something for DH instead of myself
