Here's a story I just came across on MSNBC--the reopening of Faribault Woolen Mill.

Great to see Americans being able to go back to work and great to see a textile plant that's still going to operate in the US.

Just found the catalog on their website here.

Skae, it looked like they are taking preorders now.. What fabulous news this is.. I hope it will start a trend. In these times in particular we should be buying American made products when possible.

This is great news!! I hope more factories open up again in both the US and Canada.

What a pretty town and beautiful countryside in that video. Was it filmed in Minnesota? I could move there tomorrow.

There is a blanket in the catalogue that tugs on my heart (page 6). It is the one with the creamy white background with a red, yellow and blue/black stripe.

There is nothing more Canadian than this blanket (some blankets also have a green stripe) and it speaks to our early history. It is called a Hudson's Bay Blanket named after the Hudson's Bay Trading Post founded in the 1600's (I believe). For decades these blankets were used in trade with the native people and the fabric was also made into very warm coats. "The Bay", as we call it here, is now one of Canada's oldest retail stores.

I haven't seen one of these HB blankets in ages. Hearing this good news today and seeing the blanket really lifted my spirits and made me smile.

Great news, not only for the textile workers, but also for the wool producers. At least I hope they are trying to use US/Canada produced wool.

I love the red/grey plaid one!
