I'm not sure I would have the patience to do one of these but they sure look cool.

I would totally do that... if I had time and patience and didn't already have a project in the queue. Thank you for sharing, I'll add it to my list :)

In reply to quiltingwolf
Makes my eyes hurt just to look at it. Too busy of a pattern. I would not find it relaxing to me.

Currently working on a boys quilt. Sized 40 x 40 inches. It has chickens, chicken eggs, cows, fish, sea life, afield with water, Dachshunds, mini sailboats, and many colorful other fabrics. The blocks are a 4 x 4 finished size, so many of them are needed.
This my 4th quilt in 7 months.

I love the pattern and I do like paper piecing, maybe I should put it in my queue as well but maybe as a wall hanging. Maybe something to surround a panel.

I actually have fabric laid out to make one of those for my stepson. It was supposed to get done for Christmas, but I'm shooting for his March birthday now, LOL

I wouldn't paper piece that, it's not a difficult pair of blocks.

Storm at Sea is one of my favorite quilt blocks. I have templates for this pattern, but have not yet attempted it.

It's a busy pattern, but the examples in the provided link use only two colors. It's much more interesting with three, such as this red example and this green example.

This batik scrappy version is more visually interesting.

A Google image search illustrates a number of variations on this pattern.

This is becoming more and more interesting. I'm in the middle of a quilt right now. So maybe after I'm done. I would lean towards the paper piece so, not sure much cutting.

I love the pattern! Especially the scrappy versions.

And what is paper piecing?

I'm not a quilter, but I'm finding this fascinating. I see the curves in the red example, but not the green or the scrappy one. Is it just the color combos used that fool the eye? I do like the red, but I'd probably get mixed up and get a chink in my curves!

after another look, I do see curves in the green and a hint in the batik..just not as apparent.
