Brands you love, stand up to everyday use? (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)

After setting the TG table, I've decided I need new flatware for Christmas.
I use only one set, don't need a separate one for any formal occasions.
What are your preferred brands--Oneida, ??
I am checking all the Amazon reviews, but would like to hold the brand in person first to see that it's not too light or small. What is the real stainless composition? I know some have been downgraded after being made overseas.
Thanks for your input.

I have used Reed and Barton, and Oneida. My preference is Oneida due to wear and tear with dishwasher and Mr Destructo (hubby).

We have a set of Paderno Flatware. It is nicely weighted stainless steel 18/10.
We have a set of 16, plus serving utensils. We have had them for about 3 years.

I bought a set of Reed & Barton several years ago and am really happy with it. It goes through the dishwasher everyday and honestly when I put it away, I still think it looks like new. Good weight, sturdy, and pretty. I'm going to be buying each of my girls a set for their bridal showers.

When I moved out on my own in 1971, my mom gave me a set of no-name flatware which is still in use ... can't comment on any of the current brands out there!

Oneida is wonderful. Stands up to wear & tear & still looks nice yrs. later. Easy to add more pieces if needed.
My everyday set was through Betty Crocker coupons. (That probably dates me!) Good set bought at sales. Both are a nice weight.

I had Oneida as a wedding present in 1972, and have used it every day since. It still looks great.

I have had Oneida flatware stainless for 45 years now - the same pattern which we got as a huge wedding present from inlaws. Set for 12 with serving pieces. Love it. Over the years i have collected Oneida spoons from the higher levels of the products, and I have lots of spoons now and we have used them every day. You used to be able to buy the spoons as samples and I must have bought 30 spoons over a short period of a couple y ears.
All patterns. My pattern is not called the same thing, and is not currently in the cstalog, but every now and then they resurrect it with a new name. It has been Royal York, Yorktown when Pfaltzgraff featured it, and a few other names I think.
Can't go wrong with a good brand, and buy the better grade and you will have them a long long time - make sure you really like the pattern!

Another vote for Oneida. I've added pieces over the years and you could never tell which pieces were brand new and which were old.
