Ladies, I hope you can help before I take an axe to the machine
I'm trying to use the coverstitch feature on my Memory Craft Compulock. I've used it before (but not for a little while) and it's been okay. But this time...
I keep getting missed stitches on the back and on the front. I've replaced the needles, I've re-threaded it a hundred times (mind you, I could be re-threading it incorrectly a hundred times )
When I do a test run it looks fine. It's on the garment that the problem is happening. If I have to undo yet another hem I think there will be holes in the fabric and I will be quite demented.
Also, and I don't know if this is connected, when I lift the presser foot and pull the fabric and threads back I keep getting an extra thread that seems to be just sitting there - I pull it and it's just like its looped into there with the others. Why is it so?
Hope someone can help.

In reply to Mrs Lucas
Is your machine made by Janome?
I am not familiar with it, but just for the sake of this particular garment place a piece of water soluble interfacing on top -most of time it helps.
To be more specific, more details is needed: kind of fabric, needles you are using and so on...

Problem solved and it was so simple. I was using the wrong needles. I should have been using blue-tipped needles when sewing the knit fabrics. Completely forgot about this simple little thing.
