In the latest PR newsletter there are several new pattern companies mentioned. One I looked at was In-House patterns. Several cute knit tops with a fba built in. I also checked out the In-house website and there's lots of interesting things about pattern alterations. Even though I hate pattern downloads, I'm going to try the kimono tee.

That is really cute!

The hemline is funny (in a ha-ha way) because that's one of the things I want to get rid of when I start making tops. It says the pattern is specially made for D cups, and as a D-cup I hate how the front of my shirts is always shorter than the back. I suppose it helps with coverage in the back? Or increases the appearance of leg length in the front? I don't know, but I know it's not intentional in the clothes I've been wearing.

I do love the subtle gathering in the shoulders and that pretty back neck yoke. I also like how well the samples are made. They are just beautiful... I wish pattern companies showed such nice examples.

There was a free download too. It's funny but the two reviews looked even cuter than the photo for the pattern itself.

I'm an E cup so I checked out the Kimono t. I wish I could try it on because I doubt if it would flatter me. I've tried gathers before (but under the bust instead of above) and they didn't flatter at all. I know those sleeves would emphasize my heavier upper arms too.

Still it's great to see designs drafted for something bigger than a B or C cup bra.

This link came in an email from PR early this morning.

It took me through a checkout process (charging me 0.00) but please check carefully and make sure it's still free ...

I almost always need a fba, and I often rotate the dart to the shoulder seam for soft gathers in knits and wovens. It's a nice look and I like it better than a huge bust dart. The in house patterns have done the same thing. While sleeveless may not work for you, don't be afraid of shoulder gathers.

The free download is from Maria of Denmark, isn't she the one who sold Onion patterns?

I decided to try the Inhouse Kimono pattern, because even if I decide the style isn't right for me, it will be a perfect pajama top. Do you like how I justify pattern purchases?

I'm another one who tries to avoid the too-short-in-front look that my overly ample girls cause, but I'm thinking that if I exaggerate the difference - making the back even longer-it might look a little less accidental.
