What do we think? (Moderated by Deepika)

Aside from the $7,245 price tag, would you wear this?
I think we are all out of practice sitting in crinolines, and what restaurant chair would accommodate the poofiness.
If you have worn crinolines, I want to hear how you manage it. LOL

I don't think the dress is long enough, but crinolines are easy -- they smush!

Is that velvet? Too heavy and baroque.
Lacroix got it right in '86. It already has presence, the goods can be light and (okay, I gotta say it...)
pouf-y.

This looks very solid to me. I am crinoline deprived, even my prom and homecoming gowns weren't as full as this.
Ohhh J- Which LaCroix do you have?

Only the one in my head but, Loti, I totally thank you for presuming that I have that kind of stature (in both means and morphology...)

Can I add another question to the original post:
What do we think the AGE CUT OFF for this style is? I mean, I'm 112 years old; could I get away with it at a Holiday party?
This post now has me itching to sew a crinoline. My first, incidentally, since I was 4.
This style didn't catch on as well as it should have in Flatbush.

Love this dress- wish I were xxlbs. thinner and 5in taller.
Don't know how old you are, but I do seem to remember you said you were shorter...you would need to tone down the crinoline a bit so as not to be overwhelmed by it. And unless you have elephant wrinkles, you should look fine in it.

I think if the skirt shape were tempered a bit, and less bell shaped there wouldn't be an age appropriate cut off. I agree it does need to be just a little longer.
Here are some old LaCroix's.

Compared with these the red dress is tame.

See my avatar.
My square dance skirts were that big back in the day. You haven't lived until you have tried to squeeze on of those babies into a tiny bathroom stall.
Have to say that any reference to La Croix reminds me of Absolutely Fabulous and makes me giggle.
