Hi Clev here. I read each & every bit of help I recieved from my "Spouse not supportive of Sewing" Post, in fact there's some new stuff on there today that is really good.
Thankfully I recieved support from you folks and that felt pretty good--it also seemed to empower me.
I had made a huge point, to you, in advance that I was already VERY tidy about sewing--I wanted to save you the effort of covering that. But guess WHAT???
Lack of Tidy is my update. I've sewn two shirts in two days and there's been stuff out in plain view!! I have me some new found backbone!! There hasn't been any verbal poop for it either. WHY CLEV, WHY are you doing this?????
I'm holding my head up high, I'm proceeding with my thing I really like to do--I must like it, it's 3:00 in the afternoon & I haven't eaten yet. But I figured out husband could first-hand see my sewing, see my concentration, sense my gratification.
PLUS
He may get sick of seeing the stuff. Hmmmmm. He might think (all on his own) that a sewing ROOM is in order. That'd be a nice side benefit. Mainly, I'm just glad I sifted through your advice & came out with a different attitude toward my hobby. I'm going to keep it up & I'm not going to sneak around like some down-trodden closet sewer. I'm happy.

Bonny lass, bonny lass, will you be mine?
You shall neither wash dishes nor serve the wine;
But sit on a cushion and sew a fine seam,
And feast upon strawberries, sugar, and cream.

Good for you! If you don't take care of yourself, not only will no one else bother but you won't have enough energy to take care of the other people you care about. If you're happy, though, that happiness can spread around really well. So, your DH will reap the benefits of your doing something you love. Happy sewing!

In reply to Clev
Clev, I am so happy for you! Not only are you enjoying your hobby and satisfying your desire for creative expression, you are standing up for yourself & reaping the benefits of greater self-esteem, pride in your accomplishments, while modeling a great example for your children.
I'm hoping your husband responds to your new attitude favorably, but even if he's slow to come around to your thinking....I'm hoping you will continue to make changes that will enhance your life and your relationship with your husband.
Best wishes!
Pam

Where are we going, and what am I doing in this handbasket?
Matthew 25:40 (New International Version)
The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
