I am afraid to post this because I don't want to jinx anything, but, well, I can't jinx it if I'm asking for luck, eh?

This happened here in north Texas.

92 dogs dumped by possible puppy mill breeders

We're headed to Ft. Worth on Sunday morning (this will possibly be an hour drive for us as I'm north east Dallas) to look at the Spaniels. They'll be ready for adoption at noon. We're looking to possibly get a little brother for our 2 year old American Cocker, Jeffrey.

We may not tho', but we're thinking of going by anyway. We're going to see. There is a pup that has the beau interested. So ... we'll see. If we get one, I'll post pics.

PS: There is special place in hell for the people who did this. Or for any cruelty to an animal.

How terrible! I hope they all find wonderful homes, but its' going to take people really willing to spend time working with them and potty and social training I'm guessing.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sewing machines make me happy. I like sewing with them, cleaning them, petting them, gazing longingly at them.

Rescue TWO, they are small! No better feeling than to rescue a dog that NEEDS a home vs buying a dog from a breeder who is contributing to the over-population and bad genetics of most breeds! Ughhh!
Good luck on your mission of mercy-these poor dogs may have never known a human's touch other than to move them from one place to another. Remember this when you see the poor souls--they are probably so confused and scared to death. Can you imagine what it is like to be them?

Actually two different groups of puppies were dumped.. on two different nights.. so over 200 dogs .. maybe the same person , maybe not. as our breeder control laws are changing . so you know its someone who did not want to follow the new laws'regulations.. I am glad they decided to go out of business.. those poor puppies were in bad shape and just dumped out in the road.
I am thinking you were looking at the English Spaniel.. and I can't blame you.. those little eyes just looking at us on TV.. Made me want one too. Beautiful dogs they were.. what a pity they had to start out life like this.. Hugs to you for adopting one..

Your Jeffrey is absolutely beautiful. Good luck with the puppy mill rescue dog. They often come with a long list of mental, emotional and health problems. A local Maltese puppy mill breeder was 'busted' several years ago. There were very few healthy, sane dogs from her inventory. Lots of physical and mental health problems, probably some due to inbreeding.

Thanks, folks. We're enroute right now (the beau is driving, 'natch.)

@Poorpigling, ugh! I'm hearing that there are dumps all over the state due to the new laws. While it's awful these pups were dumped, hopefully those evil people stay away from animals now.

@MrsMoos, while we'd love to get 2, we don't ave the room.As it is we have two older cats with health issues also (asthma and diabetes.) Right now I want a second dog and a canine companion for Jeff.

Well, we don't have a new family member. Probably 200 to 250 people or so (the beau thinks almost 500) showed up to adopt one of 19 available dogs.

You had to put in an application, and those approved had their names go in a bucket for drawing. We did not get picked.

Well, one thing we have decided is that if an opportunity arises, we're open to another dog. Even a large breed dog. So there's that.

I don't doubt that these dogs went to good homes.

BTW, one of the HSNT members said that the authorities have a lead on who they think dumped these dogs. Let's hope they come to justice.

I saw that on the news here in Ohio. Something about the law changing so mill breeders were just dumping their dogs.
I heard that some won't be available for a few weeks. Will you have another chance?

There are SO MANY dogs in shelters, dumped, confused and scared as they can smell the death there. Please, please consider adopting from a shelter-there are dogs there literally DYING for a home and someone to love and love back. Remember, these are dogs that are stressed so their behavior may not be an indication of how they REALLY ARE or what kind of dog they COULD BE with a little tlc and training. People are dumping them for financial reasons, fooling themselves that someone will come and take them and give them a better life--and that someone could be YOU! I can honestly vouch, even through chewed shoes etc, THERE IS NO FEELING LIKE THE ONE YOU GET WHEN YOU KNOW YOU SAVED A LIFE!
