Is it still sold anywhere? (Moderated by Sharon1952)

It's not unusual to find packages of old zippers and old woven-edge rayon seam bindings at thrift shops and garage sales.
Recently, however, I found a package of (vintage) rayon bias seam binding. It's so much nicer than the cotton bias tapes you find in the stores these days--less stiff, less bulky.
I know that woven-edge rayon bindings are still sold online by The Sewing Place, etc.
But I was wondering if there is a modern-day source for pre-cut rayon or silk bias tape?

Oh Betty, I hope someone has a positive answer to your question. I love the rayon bias tape and couldn't believe that it was no longer available when I started sewing after a hiatus. It was the best for flared hems and all kinds of things.

Betty, I did a search on Ebay, and came up with a few rayon's. Also, do a search for vintage bias tape. Sounds like the bias tape "back then" was usually made out of silk or rayon. The search came up with several, but I didn't go into the auctions to see if it said what they were made of.
I had the links earlier, but my internet connection went down. Didn't feel like searching for them again!
Hope this helps!

There is a brand called "hug snug" that the tailoring supply places like Atlanta Thread and Supply carry. It comes on a roll, so it is an excellent value if you stock up on basic colors. I am not 100% sure that this is what you are seeking, but it sounds like it.

Thanks for your replies. Keri, I had not thought about checking e-bay. I'll try that.
I found Hug Snug online, but it's a woven-edge binding. Woven-edge rayon binding is very easy to find. It's the bias binding in rayon or silk that I've not seen anywhere.
For some reason it's really easy to find bias binding in cotton, but not in softer fabrics.
Since posting my question, I did find a couple of places that sell bias silk ribbon. You have to dye it, though. That kind of defeats the purpose of buying it pre-cut for convenience. And it's very expensive. I bought my vintage rayon binding for 15 cents! :)

I also would like to find bias rayon binding, so I'll keep checking back to this thread, too. A bound hem looks so nice, and I'd like to have an alternative to cutting my own strips. Seems like I never have the extra fabric available for that, anyway.

You can find over 30 colors of the rayon bias binding on the website www.thesewingplace.com Click on the words Seam Binding
I buy from them frequently and they are very fast in filling and shipping orders. I just ordered Petersham for waistbands, and I also buy ambiance lining and interfacting from them.
Hope this helps.

Farmhouse fabrics sells silk bias (as well as some very yummy looking cotton bias). However, the colors are limited and the smallest width is 1".

As Betty pointed out in her original post, thesewingplace seam binding is, in fact, straight grain, not bias. The only bias tape they seem to have is in their stay tape section, in black or white.

Those cotton tapes at Farmhouse do look nice, and lighter weight than the packaged ones I've seen in stores. It might be worth trying them out. The silk prices are reasonable, too.
I got hooked on bias tape when I made a pair of pants and used a Hong Kong finish on the seams. It was easy and looks so much nicer than a zig-zag stitch. (I don't have a serger and don't plan to get one anytime soon.)
