Is there a double fold binding attachment? (Moderated by Sharon1952, EleanorSews)

Hi Everyone
this is my first post. I have the opportunity to get a reasonably priced one of these and the lady who is selling it doesn't really appreciate all that it can do. I need to be able to do stretchy double fold binding with my machine so can anyone tell me if there is an attachment for this ?
many thanks for all your input.

From my own personal experience this isn't a machine that's easily learned without some help from a Janome dealer that's familiar with it. As a sewing teacher I worked with 1 more than 10 years ago. It was the most tricky machine to learn, plus both the foot & needle plate have to be changed in order to do the cover stitch. You also change the part on the door from regular to cover stitch (all combo machine's require this set up.) This machine's more than 10 years old so parts will become harder/ longer wait time. In terms of the binder attachement: the current Janome coverlock binders/feet will not fit. The shanks/feet on combo machines aren't 1 size fits all like sewing machines. The binder attachement needs a plate that's screwed to the bed of the machine. This compulock dosn't have anywhere to attach the plate. As a 5 thread serger with cover stitch option it would be good. As a machine for use with a binder the Janome cp900/cp1000 or new cpx1000 would be better.

Thanks Rainer, but these are for other model Memory Craft *sewing* machines - this machine is the coverstitch compulock machine. Good start though! Thank you.

Hi Sew2006
You seem to know what you are talking about and I must say I am very disappointed to hear this. An all singing all dancing machine like this without the option of a binder attachment seems like a trick missed to me. It is a real steal at £300 but if it can't do what I need it is waste of money so thank you for letting me know.
