I can't believe I have allowed my weight to creep up 35lbs! I can't use the baby weight as an excuse anymore, since her first birthday has come and gone.

I feel my downfall is inactivity and the tiredness that comes along with it (so I eat and go to bed, instead of moving!) so I thought this program sounded good. Anyone have any first-hand experience?

8 minutes doesn't strike me as enough time, but at least it would be a start. I hope it works for you!

8 minutes can seem like an eternity when you haven't exercised for a long time. It can at least get you going, and you may see some small changes which will be very encouraging, and you'll want to extend your session. I admit I don't know what program you're talking about though.

I exercise first thing in the morning. It fells really good to know that you have already done your exercise for the day! On the other hand, it can sometimes be very difficult to hop out of bed and on to the exercise step.

You might as well give this a try (presuming that there isn't a huge cost associated with it).

I've been doing exercise videos. I like Collage Video, because they give good descriptions and ratings. NAYY, but I've used them a few times.

I still don't think 8 minutes of daily weight training will do a whole lot for you. But since the plan also includes improving eating habits, I don't think it would hurt. Why not give it a try?

You might also add some walking to the program. Perhaps you could fit it in at lunch?

I have the book, I bought it at a thrift store months ago, still haven't read it, I guess your post is a wake up call, I've been wanting to start weight training, just didn't know how, so I'll guess I'll get out the book and start reading.

My daughters read this book, and they liked it, they work out all the time, but they have gym memberships, my Erika works for Calif. Fitness, I could go there, but I'm not motivated to get up and go somewhere to work out, I need something I can do at home.

My husband and I walk at night with the dog, so I think I'll continue walking -and- try the 8 minute workout. I'll keep watching this post. I'm off to the garage, I think I saw the book out there by the dusty weight bench.

Why not??? My baby just turned 21 and I am still blaming him!!!

My grandmother had gotten a bit weak. She was just a bit over 80, I think, and was getting out of her chair like an old person: lifting herself out with her hands. When I saw her the next year (yes, unfortunately, a whole year later before I saw her again in person) she was getting right out of that chair. She had started doing an exercise program with weight training. She used Strong Women Stay Young, which seems like an excellent book.

I see that they have one called Strong Women Stay Slim. Given the results that I saw with the Strong Women Stay Young, I'd think it is probably well written and researched. So perhaps you should give one of these two books consideration.

But you don't have to wait until you read a book. And you don't have to go on any fancy diet. Eat a little less. Add in some fruits, vegetables, whole grains. And move around a little more. Instead of sitting down, walk around the room while you talk on the phone. Go for a walk. Little things add up. It will take a while to lose weight, but that's OK.
