http://www.amazon.com/SINGER-Easy--Computerized-Sewing-Machine/dp/B008NBNFEQ/ref=sr_1_21?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1360542025&sr=1-21

this is the machine I am looking at possibly as a backup. it has good reviews and an awesome feed system.

I saw this machine at Joann's Fabric store. I think it's so pretty and I love the slope on the front and the big draw that pulls out. I am sure the machine will sew fine. I have newer Singers and they all work great.

The price on Amazon is very good and if you don't like, you have 30 days to send it back.

It is comparable in most respects, to the singer 160. But, there is already an updated model with some minor new features, such as a more informative LCD

Sorry, awesome feed system on a Singer this cheap is an oxymoron. If you are looking for a "awesome" feed system for anywhere near this price you need to buy a used pfaff. I'm not saying this is a terrible machine but in sewing machines you get what you pay for. Awesome is stretching it a bit. You'd be better off with this one which is tried and true

If you look a little further on Amazon, you can find other machines that have more features for the same or less money.
Here's the Brother page..some good deals

If you click through all the pages, you will find other brands, also.

Mostly positive reviews. However, because there are a couple negative ones, I would buy this from a store (JoAnn) and not online just in case I got one that was a bummer and it had to be returned.

Just thought I would toss this in the mix. The manager of my local Hancocks recommened the Computerized Brother SC9500 to a customer last week, while I was in the store. It looks like a nice machine. Hancocks has it on sale for $199.99 from Feb. 17-19.

I try not to get too overwhelmed by one or two reviews, cuz then no one would buy ANYTHING, y'know?

Agree. I look for an overall balance of more positive than negative. (I also look at "what" they are saying negative. Some problems are worse than others; some problems are more likely to be user error than machine error.)

I did a review on the 160 which is the same machine. The best features of this machine are the ease of use and the ergonomic shape. Read my review here.
