On Craigslist, there is an ad for a sewing machine that has 5 pictures of a sewing machine. But, not one of them shows the front of the machine. This ad has been on Craigslist many times in the past 4 or 6 months. Since they don't show the front of the machine I assume that something is wrong with it. Is that what you would assume?

ask for a photo of the front of the machine before you make an offer and the mystery will be solved.

No, the reason is most likely that they have no idea what they are doing. They figure that any picture will convey "sewing machine" and that buyers will be flocking to their listing. How about the listings with a picture of a desk opened and they are peering down with the camera taking a picture of a machine still in the desk?...face down, of course. Uggghhh

I agree with 'they don't know what they are doing'. They probably think that is the front.

But yes, ask for one before you make an offer.

I agree - it's probably someone who has NEVER used a sewing machine. They could easily think the needle goes on the right.

The seller is a pawn shop. Someone probably dropped off grandma's stuff and got $X for the lot, and now the shop is selling off the pieces.

I bet they think the external motor bit at the back is far more important than the front of the machine ... or they don't even realise that it isn't the front! I've seen it quite a lot where machines are sold by someone who doesn't know a thing about sewing.

this happens w/ regularity here. is SOOO annoying. I think its a grandson, son or spouse or something who have the mind-set that the back of the machine shows a motor so we know it has one. also they might assume its the front bc that's where the light is? if it were just single time or two, it'd be just laziness but this happens so often its got to have a reason.

Or it is missing parts on the front (or missing the front!?) There is an ad here on CL that has been there a long time which only shows a fuzzy case. HAHAHHAAA....that's it - who knows how the machine may or may not look. To me, an ad looks like what the item is gonna be like. If you can't do an ad you probably can't take care of other things either. It's not like there aren't sources of info before you actually post something.

That is is shiniest needle plate I have ever seen!

Walk in, try it and make an offer. If like on Pawn Stars, they probably paid $20 for it.
