On April 8th, my granddaughter was born. It took several hours at a well known, highly reputed hospital to confirm that she had Down Syndrome. Days later we learned there was a heart defect. It has been determined that it is necessary for heart surgery to be done sooner than later. Surgery is scheduled for May 2.

I am a person of deep faith. I truly believe in the power of prayer. I also believe that people can channel positive thoughts and energy if they are not into religion (and even if they are as well).

Asking for prayer, positive energy & thoughts going out for my granddaughter & our family. A tsunami like this can only be a benefit. Thank you, all.

Eleanor,

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS, on gaining a precious new granddaughter!

I will certainly pray for her....can you share her first name (or PM me?).

There are Blessings laced through all of these storms; sometimes it takes a while, often a long while, to see what the blessing really was and to put it in context.

My baby with Down Syndrome turns 16 on Monday! The Lord has carried me, guided me through this roller coaster experience every step of the way.

Good for you for publicly asking for Prayer.

I'll absolutely keep you all in my prayers Eleanor. I pray for Tracy daily (my Down's niece) via emails to her and that will be the time to pray for your family too. I know Tracy will be all over this too. Her sweet prayers are usually phrased like this "Hello God? We have a big problem down here and we need help NOW!!"

Blessings on the birth of your new granddaughter. While children with Down Syndrome bring challenges, in my experience they also bring profound loving warmth. I so appreciate the way you asked for help-

Your open heartedness is surely a well of support for the little one. Good on you for your receptivity to many ways of holding you and your family in good faith. Count me amongst your circle and especially in the coming days.
