Help! It's crawling up my leg! (Moderated by Deepika, Sharon1952)

I'm in the midst of a sewing frenzy to make clothes for an upcoming trip. One of my pieces is a lovely blue violet silk noil from 27th St Fabrics in Eugene, OR. I've made a walking skirt from it and it has the worst static cling I have ever seen. Truly I didn't even need to sew it together for it to stick to my body.
A slip helped but did not solve the problem. I washed and dried it before sewing. Since it's a solid, I didn't throw in a dryer sheet for fear of spotting. Should I just throw it in for a few minutes with a sheet now and see what happens? I was hoping that I could wear it without a slip because it'll be hot when I'm travelling.
Any suggestions are welcomed! Thanks.

Have you tried putting lotion on your legs? That may help. It has helped get rid of static for me in the past though it doesn't always work in the dry desert I live in.

have you tried any of the anti-static sprays? The names escape me right now (having a senior moment)

I've used dryer sheets on silk noil lots of times and it came out nice and soft, no static cling and no staining.

Hi Patti,
Try Static Guard - I think it's the spray MaryLynn was referring to. I use it, it works, although it does have a bit of an obnoxious smell. I have had luck spraying pants the night before using them, hanging them up on the clothesline inside to "air out", and they don't stick the next day, or smell!

Sometimes putting a static cling garment overnight in the freezer will help.

Patti, let us know what works for you! I've got some silk noil that I want to use for a skirt, too.

OK, I'll try the dryer sheets first (since I have them) and then Static Guard will be the next choice. The lady at 27th St Fabrics said that this has happened to her on pants -- eeek! I'll post a progress report.
els - putting them in the freezer sounds like a great idea for one of our 100 degree days!

I tried the static guard and it worked fine just like y'all said it would. Thanks for the advice!
