Hmmmm.... Lots of conflicting 'style tips' out there. Thinnest part of the calf.... Surely that's the ankle on every one? I have made some really cute (for a first attempt) flowery, summer pants (I'm in Australia), and I really like them just below the knee... But I read somewhere that this will make one look boxy... I don't think it does... I think cropped below my calf looks boxy if anything.. Maybe even a little frumpy. They are fairly slim legged - tapered but not too tight.
What do you think about crop pant lengths?

I don't know what the "official" take is on length for cropped pants. My feeling is that you should just go with whatever length you think is right for you. If you feel that you look good in the pants you just made, then they're good. The "fashion police" are an urban myth!

What you feel comfortable in is a fine standard! But if there's any doubt, have someone who loves you take a photo of you, front and back, wearing the pants in question. The camera might fib a little, but it really doesn't lie.

Thanks ladies... I think you're right, I wouldn't feel right with them below calf, then I wouldn't wear them, so I shall bite the bullet and crop them just exactly where I quite like them.
Ill review them at the week end hopefully.
Cheers

I was told that wherever the crop pant or even skirt hits on the legs brings focus to that portion of the leg. A pant, skirt or dress that hits on the fullest part of the calf is fine on woman with wonderful slim legs.

As a plus size woman with slightly heavier legs the most flattering points we found were 2" above the knee and one inch below the fullest part of my calf.

Have a friend take pictures of you with a fabric draped on your legs from side angle and front it will show you exactly where it is most flattering.

I have just been musing over this very question. I am a short, plus size girl and have always worn my summer pants at my calf but always felt frumpy in them. I had read that the hem should fall at the thinnest part of the leg which on me is a smidge below my knee.

Yesterday I took a pair of my 3/4 pants and shortened them up and oh my what a difference in the whole look. I teamed it up with a long top (too hide the tummy) and I felt so much more comfortable/confident. This actually made my legs look slimmer too as the eye isn't hitting right at that fat calf.

Peggy Sagers always says the shorter the skirt the thinner you look. I am beginning to think she is right.

Think to have made also a good series of pictures while you sit and in other actions like binding to the Floor......

I find that sweet spot for me is below the knee but just before the calf curves out otherwise it makes me look even shorter and dumpier, oh sorry, more compact, than I prefer I think that makes mine pedal pushers...
Play around with it and see where you like it and its most comfy.

I have thin lower legs, and also like mine right below the knee or mid-calf. No longer than that or all that will show is the least shapely part of my legs.

I like mine either right below the knee or about an inch above. I quit wearing shorter shorts a few years ago because I am over 30 and just feel they didn't look right anymore (except for knit, comfy shorts that I usually just wear around the house). I feel the Bermuda type make me look a little taller (I am 5;3" and plus sized, so I need all the help I can get, LOL).
