A little out of my price range at the moment, but wouldn't it be great if it does become more mainstream in the future?

It sounds like they might have some bugs to work out still, by saying they are new and don't know how long they will last, but still, way cool! I love that there is a hook to hang it by for pants and skirts. I have the Dritz Double Deluxe made for pants with an off-set pole, but it's so much hassle I don't even use that feature. Also, I recently lost 12 lbs. so I need to stick with my adjustable form. However, the idea of the DittoForms would be perfect for those who don't need or plan to lose weight. :-)

I looked at the website and couldn't figure out where they were located.
Cool idea but how long could it last?

Washington, DC, but they do say to contact them if you are interested with your location so that they can look into other measuring stations later.
It's a good idea. My measurements are exactly the same as the Uniquely You, so I have a tee shirt on it, but I would totally get one if they were close to mimic the effects of kids and stuff since I am not built like the UY.

I love it! Fabulous idea. I'm not sure I'm willing to spend the $400 to $500 required on it, even if it was in my area. But I would seriously consider it.

With a great wardrobe that's still in the flat-fabric stage.

Wow! Almost too good to be true. Very pricey to be sure, but tempting as I live in the area they are located! Thanks for the post. :)

I bet these will come down in price over time. With the way 3D printers are going I think "printing" your own will be feasible in the next 10 years. You'll need a 3D scan, but I bet plenty of places will offer such a service for a nominal fee by then.

I agree. I keep reading about the amazing things being done with 3D printing in the medical field so it's not surprising applications in other fields are starting to come out. When the time comes that it's more affordable for me, I will definitely consider that dress form. Hopefully I would still be up and sewing!

My ultimate dream is to have an easy way for my clients to get body scanned and I can import a true 3D model of them into the pattern software and see how the pattern is fitting them while I'm drafting it. This is the same technology that allows the 3D slices to be patterned for DIY dressform.
I bet at the rate that technology keeps moving, body scan locations will be very accessible and affordable. The 3D software on the other hand, everytime I turn around the price seems to go higher and higher. At tens of thousands of dollars... it's just way beyond my reach right now.

I did one where I was wrapped in plastic, then plaster, cut it apart after it dried and then poured foam in it. It was a lot less than this and I can pad it if I change sizes.
DH did the taping and cut me out of it and it was relatively messy but I'm really happy with the results.
This does look pretty interesting - and I live 20 miles south of DC!
