This is the first time I've ever used best press. I noticed it left a slight film on my iron sole plate. Is this typical of this product? I really didn't notice it until I tried to iron another item.....my iron wouldn't "glide" as usual. I looked at the soleplate and noticed it looked like I had scorched something. It wasn't bad, but I definitely had to clean my iron. Did I do something wrong or is this normal?

I've never had any residue with Best Press.

Hmm.....interesting. Do you think I had my iron too hot? I was also using steam. I had it set on cotton.

Do you have one of those Rowenta irons with the black stuff on the bottom? If so - that is the problem. I had one like that and everything scorched onto it.

The only times ( because I had to learn twice) I've had this happen was when I had also used spray starched the same fabric, and then put some MEBP on it.

Spray starch and ME Best Press do not play nicely together. In my sewing room. Together they seem to scorch fabric, and make a mess on my iron soleplate. Could that have happened to you?

I have a Raliable iron, and have never used any kind of starch at all. The iron does not hava a black sole plate. Welllllll.....hmmm. This is perplexing. I'm going to try it again. I love how it worked on my fabric. I made a crib skirt with box pleats. I used it to crease the pleats and boy did it do a nice job! I sprayed heavily.....could that be my problem? I thought I read somewhere to saturate the fabric when using it as a stabilizer for quilting. I wouldn't say I *saturated* my fabric, but I was definitely generous with it.

I just got a Rowenta iron for Christmas. I had the same result.

It came right off the iron but it was like this film of some kind of goo. Never, ever had that experience before with MEBP with my old iron.

Maybe the amount of steam??

Could be. I do use a LOT of steam! And my iron was really hot. I like to give myself a facial when I iron! LOL
