Hello ladies! (and gentlemen)
I tried a slanted single-welt pocket once and got confused. I think it was also a fairly shoddy method. I would really like to try it again.
So by slanted single-welt pocket, I mean the upper pocket shown here (I'm not using this pattern, but this is a good line drawing of what I mean):

I don't care if the technique has forty steps. I just want a good result!
Can anyone help?

I use Claire Shaeffer's Sew Any Inset Pocket book. I think that 's the name. It's excellent and she gives several methods for many pockets.

In her Craftsy course, Garment Industry Secrets, Janet Prey teaches the installation of a slanted single welt pocket. The course works through her jacket pattern. I had never sewn a welt pocket but both of mine came out fine. Someone commented on the sew along thread for the course that it is better to interface the fabric first. Janet did not include that step. Without her video instruction I would not have figured out how to do the pockets from the pattern instructions alone. hth.

Judy Barlup has an instructional booklet on the Mitered Welt Pocket. It is a portion of the full Tailoring Manual. I have the full manual and the DVD and highly recommend any instructional material by Ms Barlup.

Kathleen Fassanella's instruction for a Welt pocket on Fashion Incubator
Aha, here's the tutorial for a single welt pocket.. To angle it, you would simply offset the top and bottom stitching lines. The ends of the welt would be on the straight grain.

From PR, I learned that the key to welt pocket success is using a thin crisp fabric (silk organza is ideal; scraps of linen have worked well for me) to stabilize and turn the cut bits.
It's been a loooong time since I made welt pockets, but according to Pinterest, this was the tutorial I found most helpful. She doesn't include the organza layer; check here for a PR member's tutorial including organza. (Quick notes on these; the first tutorial is for a "faux" welt pocket--meaning, faux pocket, not faux welts. There's no pocket bag. It's also a double welt, but I think you'd just, you know, only do one? Like I said, long time. :)).

For Christmas, I made two of these vests with a slanted single welt pocket. I hadn't gotten around to sewing one before this so I followed the instructions precisely. They came out beautifully surprisingly easily.

I have used the Oliver+S welt pocket tutorial with good success, which is the same one as Meleliza mentions above.
It can be found here complete with lots of useful photos

When I learn to sew a welt pocket I got scraps and played until I got it they way it to be. On the slanted ones you just fololw your markings and it is basicly the same.
