I got 10 yards of cotton voile for curtains but the colors in real life (as opposed to computer screen) were not right for the project. It is perfectly ok, as I still LOVE the fabric and the paisley print.

As I was just folding it to put away (it was draped on a window so I could see if I'd come to love it there....nope) and realized it might make a good lining for a wool or wool blend dress or jacket. I have both suiting and coating that it would go very nicely with.

Will I regret it? Whatcha think?

I have lined jackets in cotton and it's been good--I do tend to use a more slippery fabric for the sleeves.

Yes, if you will be taking the jacket off regularly, a slippery lining is best. I would line summer skirts or sundresses with the voile.

Absolutely loving my Janome 500e embroidery machine, very creative. Problem with all my stash for clothing!

Ditto this. I made dresses from rayon challis lined in cotton voile. Very comfortable to wear.

Yes...I had a similar experience with printed cotton voile the colours weren't what I thought they were in real life!

I only ever line in cotton voile for summer skirts and dresses as I find it the coolest in our Aussie summer.

I have been sitting on this voile wondering what to do with it and not thinking of it as lining as it's printed. I'll think again!!

Thanks, ladies! I have a couple of patterns for fall/winter dresses with jackets, and the pattern envelopes show some of them with jackets. I'm thinking I'll use the voile for this with something slippery in the sleeves. One dress I really like is sleeveless with a jacket, so the jacket likely will stay on. I think I'll like the paisley voile with the wool blend suiting.

I'm also thinking I can make some summer tops with it, but that will wait a few months. I need warm clothes now in New England!

I don't do synthetics, so I almost always use lightweight cottons as linings. They work well.
