Hello,
I have a mini mac pc now and need to know if I buy Embrilliance essentials, will I have to have the virtual windows to run it or will it run on the mac without it. Do i have to buy parallels or bootcamp either? Can the mac run just with the Essentials? I have a singer futura quartet sewing and embroidering machine and trying to figure how to connect the software to it to the mac. Thanks for any responses. The quartet has futura software but i don't think it runs on a mac.

Embrilliance essentials does not need parallels or bootcamp to run. You can run it natively on a Mac.

For a lot of the embroidery file formats your Singer accepts, StitchBuddy might be an alternative option to organize, combine, and edit designs. I'd take a look at its free trial before making a purchase decision...

Do I have to have parallels or virtual windows for this to operate on my mac. My singer has futura software and hooks up to the computer/windows. will i be able to hook it to the mac by usb cable and download the designs?

If your Singer shows up like a removable drive when connected to the Mac, you can copy designs just over using the OS X Finder ... without any additional software.

Otherwise you will need specific drivers, and I would expect Windows (in VM or Bootcamp) is a requirement.

StitchBuddy comes with a full-featured trial version which you can test before making a purchase.

Any one can use any digitizing program for about any machine, on any computer, Apple or IBM clone that it was actually made for. And will install into. But if your actual embroidery machine, needs the program that came with it, to use while it's both open and the sewing machine turned on at the same time, and teathered together via USB cable, at the same time to do that, (because it's made that way on purpose and using the windows computer and it's program and windows operating system to do that) and as part of it's brain to do that, as that is not in the machine all by it's self at all) and that program has to run in a windows environment as not made for Mac at all, you still got to do that somehow in the mix. Just since you have no and zero other ways, to even get an embroidery design into the embroidery machine.

So even though basic Futura program not made for mac or apple,(which you really do need that computer program open and working and connected to sewing machine to even embroider anything out from the sewing machine) some people in the past, have run it (that made for windows Futura software program) on a Apple computer. But only in a windows environment and operating system, inside of a Apple computer. And of course not supported anyplace. Don't know how anyone's doing that right now, but years back, it really was by loading it into a Apple computer running that Bootcamp or Parraells program, and having a real windows operating system in that, that it was in.

But since the embroidery machine, can't embroider anything all by it's self and not hooked up at the same time to it's included program at the same time, or at least to get any embroidery design into it, you got to do that too. Other than just your choice of some digitizing program at all to make some embroidery designs with. Or the operating system you might even decide to run that on. So, the two separate things, are just kind of separate things. But no way to run Embrillance on a Mac, and pick some icon in there which does not exist, that says, send this design down a USB cable to a Futura machine in the right way to make the machine work. Just since there would not be anything like that in Embrillance software at all either. If you wanted to do it as a two part process, then maybe.

I think even Walmart has some cheapie IBM clone laptops running windows for only $199.00 though. Problem is they don't have a CD drive, and you would need to even load the Futura Program off some kind of CD drive. I think Walmart has some cheapie windows laptops for $299 though, that really have a CD drive built into them though. Maybe compare that, to what it would cost to get a windows environment and operating system running in your mac, unless you actually already had one in there.
