Bulk? Amazon? Local Shop? (Moderated by Sharon1952)

I usually pick up normal universal or jersey Schmetz needles at JoAnn if I know I'm low, but I'm finding that they don't really have many options. I haven't been able to find HA-1SP needles for my serger or any type of twin needle other than a universal.
I've ordered on Amazon as well as SewingPartsOnline.com, but I'm curious where everyone else tends to get needles. What are your favorite sources, how often do you buy, and how many do you buy at one time?

I really only buy local if at all possible. I have a great shop close by and at times their prices make me pause but I really am a firm believer in supporting local.

I do like supporting local businesses as well. What stinks is that the nearest local store is a 20-30 drive. Sometimes I go, but usually only if they have something that isn't at JoAnn.
I'd be ok never shopping at JoAnn, but unfortunately, I don't know of many other options for buying affordable garment fabric and supplies. So it's either that, paying a small fortune at the high fashion store, or buy online. Online wins out quite a bit for me.

Nearest store I can buy sewing supplies is 45 minutes away. I buy needles at an eBay store- Sharp Sewing Supplies. I just bought 100 Organ stretch needles for $26. They also carry Schmetz needles. Prices are good and it's free shipping. They ship pretty quickly too. I've been very happy with them.

I buy needles at JA if I'm there, but more often order them through Fabric.com if I have a fabric order, or Allbrands.com if I have an order for machine accessories or pressing items. I've used both those online sites for many years, no problems.

Do you have a machine dealer near by? The dealer where I bought my Husqvarna/ Viking has a great selection.
Also, if you do shop online, make sure you're buying home sewing needles. Industrial needles aren't the same.

I do, but it's about 30 min away. It closes too early for me to get there after work on weekdays, so I can only go on the weekend. Bummer if I'm in a pinch! Maybe I need to just go stock up.

Wawak for all my needles. They are the best price and have most of the brands.
