What is this notion used for? Threading hand sewing needles. The back of the package says it is not designed for round eye or embroidery/tapestry eye needles. It is designed to be used only with oval eye needles ONLY . While it is considerably bul...

Good review. I own one. I like it very much although it can be inconsistent.

I made a discovery that this threader will take and tread quite successfully, Jeana Kimball's Foxglove Cottage Straw Needles. I have been doing a lot of hand applique and happy to report this discovery.

I have this threader too and was disappointed it was not so universal but alas I also had some needles it works with. I otherwise would not have bothered. I have to clover double needle threader with the thin wire and it works so much better even for the tiniest needle eyes. Btw, we are fellow Vermonters!

I have one and I couldn't hand sew without it. I am very near sighted and have trouble threading needles except tapestry needles which have eyes big enough to drive a truck through. I have two threaders so I always know where at least one is.

Thank you for your thorough review! As Natalie Chanin says and writes in her books, she "needles her thread" similar to what you describe. I too am extremely nearsighted and would love to have something to help me. And I learned a LOT from your in-depth review! TFS!

What a wonderful review! I really learned a lot. Now I know why my needle threader doesn't help to thread the needles that I can't thread myself. And why the needles I inherited and tend to use (high quality) are so much easier to thread.

Thank you so much review. It's great. I didn't even know there was a difference between needle quality. I just use what I have and I probably bought them 22 years ago!
