I think I am not as advanced as many who have sewn this pattern.I picked View C because it was the simplest design so I could concentrate on making it fit. On the other hand, getting a below waist pair of trousers without belt loops to fit and not fall down seems to me to be no mean feat. I took quite a long time trying to get a reasonable fit. I wish Vogue patterns had more sizes on them! After all my trial and error I think I need a 10 front and 12 back but I have a 12-16 pattern. I think the...

Your new jeans look great on you! Nice job and the fit looks fine to me...but again I like closer fitting jeans.

Thank you for the very thoughtful review. The jeans look wonderful - and I am impressed with the fly work

Absolutely true that thicker fabric means you should cut the flat view larger http://fuzzygalore.biz/articles/ease.shtml but I hate the bit about jeans stretching, who needs that initial pain :-)? I think you're definitely on the right track though, and these certainely already look better than you could buy in ready-to-wear. As to the knees, it's called hyperextension, and while its not good for your joints it's perfectly curable :-). Take a yoga class, don't fret about it, but certainely don't make any adjustment to the pants or you won't be able to sit down...

AnneM - Its not so much a slip as a twist and I am now pretty sure it is because I didn't lengthen the waist band to take account of the different fly construction. Easy to do it wrong and not realise with stretch fabric. As for the back fit - it isn't altered from the pattern so just luck that I have a backside similar to the pattern. I suppose which parts are difficult is different for different people.

Funny on your knees comment. Those pants are nice, particularly the fit in the back (which is very hard). Perhaps extending the waist slightly higher would help prevent the slip you mention.

Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about trying this pattern--been on and off my wishlist for a while now. Your pants look good

re: below knee crumpling: I tell ya - its my knees! They bend the wrong way when I am standing! See how the backs look very different from the fronts in that area. Well - I am sure "clin" has a point too because below waist trousers to tend to slide down a bit (on me at least), so they tend to be longer at the end of the day than the start - need a belt really I suppose.

All those thing you did appear to have worked. the fit looks pretty good to me. Could the crumpling below the knees also be due to stiff fabric?

These look good despite all the misgivings you have. You are so right - making pants that fit is a very difficult thing but you seem to be on the right track. Keep in mind that I am lot older than you so some of my thoughts may seem "strange" to younger folk but I do think you could shorten the leg length which would get rid of crumpling?
