I use this method but some block layouts it does not work as well... I have a removeable design wall (70x70 flannel sheet) I keep it hung during construction so I can play a little if I change my mind.

I'm very, very new to sewing, but this actually made a lot of sense to me should I ever try even a small quilt. Great idea!!

I do something very similar - great minds think alike! :-) Those little pieces of paper can be saved and re-used many times.
