For folks who have had both the 830le and the 880 plus… how different are the machine overall and with embroidery?
What hoops come with the 880 plus?
Has anyone heard about the new Crystal Edition with the Smart Drive Technology? Any one witness it in action?

There are a couple of new videos online showing the new 880+ Crystal Edition doing some embroidering, and the unboxing of the 790+ Crystal Edition. Just posted in the last day or two.

I have n 830LE. The 880 plus is very, very similar but has the newer user interface, meaning the screen menus look different. There are a few features on the 880 plus that are not on the 830LE. One of them i believe is the ability to create your own decorative stitches. There might also be laser pinpoint placement for embroidery, but don't quote me on that. I think there was something that 880 plus does with trimming stitches or jump stitches, but dont know exactly what. And i think the 880 Plus lets you do more design manipulation on three machine (not needing a computer or software) but again dont quote me on that. Both wonderful machines IMO, though I've heard that many people had trouble with their 830s.

If you go on the Bernina Site there is a wealth of information about the 880 plus.

In addition to the newer interface on the 880, the plus added a lot of embroidery editing, manipulation options along with other details mentioned. Definitely see if you can d/l brochures for both an 830 and 880 Plus. Personally, having worked for a couple dealers, I think the 880 has been much more problem free than the 830. Thinking you're contemplating buying one or the other, personally, unless a crazy low price, the 830 is not a machine I'd want without a dealer warranty (original warranty wouldn't transfer and all that would be left on it would be the defective parts portion anyway, but a dealer will often warrant a used machine they're selling for a certain period. To be honest the second dealer I worked for who'd been a Bernina dealer for decades so had sold a lot of 830s out there and were getting them back in trade for 880s... eventually started selling them on ebay rather than selling in store and warranting them and having to deal with problems that came up. That's not to say there weren't plenty that never had any issue, but it's a gamble imo).
