Hi ellencrna,
You don't really need a pattern for the "shower cap" type scrub cap. I made several for myself out of terrycloth, because I shower at night and also wash my hair. I wanted something to absorb the moisture without soaking my pillow. I used to just wrap a towel, turban style, around my head, but the bulk of material was sometimes uncomfortable to lie on. All I did was to cut a circle of terrycloth, make a small casing around the edge, and insert 1/4" elastic snug enough to keep it on without being too tight. An 18" diameter circle worked well for me, but I have a rather large head, so a smaller diameter might work for most. This was convenient, since it meant I could get four hats out of one yard of 36" wide terrycloth.
Good luck!
Regards,

But it's so much fun to buy a pattern! Butterick 4946 has two types of caps. I haven't made the caps but the scrub top is a nice shape.

thanks everyone
what about a pattern for the bouffant caps with the band around the bottom, not the showercap type, it has a 2 inch band that makes it look much nicer.

Look at this review and the pictures and see if it's what you want. The reviewer will share her pattern with you if you send an email.

My daughter had made several of from butterick 4946 both kinds.. I would think it would be very easy to add a 2 inch band to the shouwercap type in the butterick pattern..

You might look for Elizabethan peasant cap patterns, too...they are very similar to surgical scrub caps that I see women wear. They look like they might be easy to draft a pattern for -- cut an oval shape and gather it into the 2" band, then put a little bit of elastic in the part that goes at the nape of your neck. Take a RTW one and take it apart.

McCall's 4116 has several hat patterns One looks a bit like the scrub hat you described.
Another option is to just take apart one of the disposable ones and make a pattern from that.

I have one here you could have. Its for mens & womens scrubs & hats. I only used the hat pattern once to sew my husband a bunch of caps. He had surgery to remove a cyst at the top of his head, and he used the caps to heal. If you email me your address I will mail it out to you, nothing in return needed. Glad someone else can use it. Blessings Diana
