Hey There!

I'm borrowing my mom's account today to generate info.

My husband has just decided that I'm going to get 2/3 of the upstairs in our new garage for WOMAN-Land. This is going to be a space 19 feet wide by 17 feet deep. The rear 10 feet (not included in the dimensions above) is for storage. In what will be my room, there will be a door and two four foot windows on the front wall. The rest is one big open space and there will be a door on the rear wall to access the storage area.

I'm so excited!!

Here's what I'm looking to fit into the space:
-a cutting / layout table that will double as crafting and scrapbooking space. This could be an island or peninsula. with cabinets underneath for storage.
-an area for a sewing maching and a serger, I don't own them yet, have always borrowed mom's up till now.
-space needs to be functional for the future possibility of quilting as well, don't want to take up quilting in a huge way but would like to make a couple of them.
-Space for painting eisel and canvases
-treadmill & tv
-office space for countertop and desktop computer as I work two days a week from home.
-hanging storage for costumes and clothes will be in the rear storage area.
-would like to eventually get a dress form, so need space for that too.
-ironing board area, would like to keep the board up.

Looking for ideas and thoughts, even layout ideas. As the space is entering the finnishing phaze this month. So I need to think of lighting and plug ins etc. Won't be furnishing and building the island etc for a few months.

Thanks, Let's have some fun!

Dream Sewing Spaces

And this thread, which has been very active lately! for more inspiration.

Graph paper is your friend - cut out on 1/4 scale the elements that are key to your vision and play with them on a scale rendering of your space.

BTW - you're lucky to have your space! My sister's husband has a 'man-cave' but otherwise I know nobody who has dedicated space to a hobby!
------
Suo ergo maledicto

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. - Steve Jobs
