This is my second SM. I have not sewn seriously in over 30 years. Now I want to get back into it as I am getting close to retirement. I just bought this Bernina 530 for $2000. in Canada where I live.

I could not try it before hand because there is no official Bernina dealer in my city. So I bought it through a SM dealer who ordered it for me.

However, on first trial, I realized that it shakes on high speed. The table it is set on is solid and stable. Is this normal?

My 530 doesn't shake.
I would try moving it to another equally stable surface (such as a kitchen counter) to see if there's any difference. Then, if it still shakes, it should definitely go back to rhe dealer for adjustment.

My 530 was a bit shaky at higher speeds, altho I rarely sew at high speed, but I was using a Gidget II table, which I find does make even my heavy 750 shake at high speed.

When I looked underneath the machine to see if it was leveled, I saw that three of the corners have rubberized pads and the forth one doesn't. It has a small metal leg with no pad. Is this standard or one pad is missing?

Hmmm. I don't know. My machine is set into a SewEZ table.
I will pull it out and see if mine has a peg leg.

The right rear leg is smaller and different than the other three. It is rubber, it is just a smaller foot. Have no idea why it would need to be different that the others.

Can you turn the odd foot? I'm wondering if it's a leveling foot, which would help immensely with vibration. The pad from it may be missing, which would also help stop vibration.

No, I can not turn the odd foot but I seem to have found the problem. I tried the machine on my kitchen counter and it doesn't vibrate. So I removed the thinly padded table cloth that was covering my table to protect it. The machine sits more steadily on the table now.

It is odd because the table cloth did not affect my old Singer 9410 (school model).
Thank you all for the input!
