Can the Sashiko machine be upgraded to the Sashiko 2 machine? If so, are there any differences I should be aware of between the two machines (ie size of machine, screen size, button size ---)?

What I have heard is changes to the bobbin area, which can be upgraded from original to 2 and change for needle up/down. I have no way to verify either.

This is my first time hearing about a Sashiko machine. I watched a couple Youtube videos and now I want one!! But, no one will post the price on line. Roughly what do they cost? $300, $500, $1000????

I have a Sashiko 1 upgraded to 2. Mine was a floor model and the bobbin did not load properly so my dealer and I split the cost to upgrade.

The bobbin is easier to load and you can do a single stitch with the 2. Cosmetics are exactly the same. The full cost was $500+ shipping but she charged me $250+1/2 of the shipping. I will say I got my machine when it was at the 50% off sale.

Roughly, I think the list price is about $2000.
There one for sale, new-in-box here:
Sashiko
It's at the 'Sashiko Machine by Babylock' Yahoo Group.

The original Sashiko was $2400 and the 2 is $4000. They go on 50% sales quite often though.

I bought my Sashiko 2 in May 2014 and paid $1,900. Nice machine, love using it on smaller projects. I have not had much luck with large quilts but still glad to have it. I use it about every other month on one project or another.

I saw a demo of this machine yesterday. The price was $1900. I really want this machine. If I were still working I would buy it.
