Pattern Description: This is an asymetrical designed skirt with front and back panelling. The front is below knee, back is at the knee.
Pattern Sizing:AU sizing from 4-36. I made a AU12 which they say is a US 8. Really don't know about that as I almost always make 10-12 in Style Arc patterns and I make a med or 10-12 in most US designs as well.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Not really, the design pictures show a summery looking skirt and that is not the direction I was headed with this patten. But the drawings are fine, not misleading.
Were the instructions easy to follow?Oh dear, we are talking Style Arc here. The written instructions are as good as one expects from them but I do not believe the drawings are useful at all. I actually texted them and asked about the issue, but I didn't get an answer back. The main picture and the last picture show the skirt made like the directions, but the construction drawings are reversed. This is a single layer pattern, designed to be cut fabric right side up and pattern right side up. The diagrams are just the opposite. This is my opinion and of course I could be wrong but sewer be ware!!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?Love the quirky look I got from this pattern. Nothing matches, and the pieces are all cut in different angles and directions. The pattern pieces all line up really well. I have no issues with how the pattern is designed.
Fabric Used:This is one of the many pieces of wool that I have had stored (in moth proof containers) for years. It originally was purchased from Northwest Fabrics in North Kansas City in the 90's. Once a year I go through those containers and refold all those yards of fabric. Great memories in every piece too.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:As I mentioned this pattern is designed for a light summer look, but it worked really well with this striped wool. I added the binding pieces but I did stitch them down since I didn't like them floating around. I also lined the skirt by just cutting the lining to fit the top of the skirt and cutting the length to about an inch above the back length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? There are no reviews for this pattern here and I couldn't find any on line, so I thought it deserved a mention. I would make a summer casual skirt using this pattern.
Conclusion: I really like this funky skirt. The top was made from Love Notions Arlington, which I won't review since it has been made dozens of times! But I will review the Quinn top pattern separately since they are different patterns. Thanks for reading
