Fabric Used: Light green french terry (repurposed sweatshirt), dark green fleece (repurposed sweatshirt), dark green ribbing (repurposed sweatshirt), Dinosaur print flannelette.

Pattern alterations:

  1. Completely lined the inside with flannelette instead of the suggested floating facing to hide all seams.

  2. Added ribbed cuffs and hem (forgot to take the cuff size out of the sleeve so the sleeves are quite long, but from the pattern image they looked short so maybe it’s a good thing I forgot?).

  3. Added stegosaurus plates made of fleece fused with extra loft fusible fleece. Allowance was stitched down either side to help it stand and then the seam was fused with medium fusible interfacing for more stability.

Thoughts: Not a fan of facings, which is why I give this a 4☆. French Terry is very stretchy and difficult to work with but it was the only way I could find the colour I was after. Hemming tape and interfacing helped when it was time to put the placket in. The stegosaurus plates struggle to stand on their own. This is good and bad; good in that they’ll lay flat when sitting or laying down but bad because they need to be fussed with after. When standing, gravity does help. Not sure what I could do in the future to improve them.

In spite of pattern frustrations, you have made an adorably fun sweater.

The stegosaurus plates are adorable even if fussy. The dinosaur logo is a nice touch as is the placket. Lovely color for the fashion fabric.
