This is my second time making the AFI Maya Bra. My original review has all of the details from the first version. For the second version I made a few changes:
Fabric: On my first version I covered foam with a stretch print jersey. For this version I used duoplex as the main fabric and lined it with bra tulle in the cups and sheer cup lining on the front band. I used foam for the straps, and everything has a decorative rigid lace overlay. The materials were from the B,Wear Winter Berry bra kit from last year.
Additional Alterations: After my first version (a modified 40H starting size), I decided to move the strap point inward by about 3/8" and reduced the length of the neckline by 1/4". I also took 1/4" off the bottom and 1/8" off of the top of the center front gore of my self drafted band pattern. I really love how it fits now! I think this is my best fitting bra so far.
Conclusions: I really love how this project turned out. I'm surprised but I think the AFI Maya might be my favorite pattern thus far. It took a lot of work to get the fit on the first version, but the minor tweaks for the second version made it nearly perfect. I also really like the combination of the bra tulle and duoplex - the cups are very comfortable but still supportive and fill out nicely without any weird flat spots. I'm also very happy with the pattern matching on the front... it wasn't planned (I had barely enough lace!) but it worked out and looks better than I would have hoped! I'm definitely going to have the Maya in high rotation and will likely make it again when I have another lace that suits this style; it's probably going to join my list of bra TNTs!

I've made a few different bras and I also think the AFI Maya fits the best. Beautiful bra!
