This is pair number three.
Pattern Description:Which view did you do this time?
I made the same size (the medium), but they seem to have come out smaller?!
Pattern Sizing:
These are alpha sizing - extra small to large.
Why did you decide to make this again?
The outer layer of the previous pair have worn out in the heel.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Again, they are not.
Note that to attach the heel piece, it is kind of like a burrito method. This explanation has helped at least one other member who was making these.
There are other steps which could use more words (when attaching the footbed it is not clear to me which piece and which way... having attached it the wrong way in the first pair I am more thoughtful at this step now!)
Fabric Used:
upper: wool plaid left from my 'shanorak' project last summer
inner: rayon sweater knit from a sweater made last winter.
batting: bamboo batting from my fleece. I ony used one layer, whereas the instructions call for two. Which would be more comfortable!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I trimmed the fllece so that it is smaller than the seam allowance, making it easier to sew layers together. I therefore machine quilted it to the inner (lining) pieces to keep it in place.
I added a leather sole. I cut tis 3/4 inch smaller than the footbed piece so that it was not caught in the seam allowance AND there was enough room around it.
Conclusion:
I have been using a felt insole taken from a previously loved pair of (Danish-made) slippers to make walking more comfortable. For some reason the insole does not fit as well in this pair. The heel slips off, so that is a bit of a disappointment!

Very cozy looking - sorry to hear you didn't get quite the same fit this time. They look very warm with your heavy socks as well!!

These look nice and cozy. I like the use and placement of the plaid.

I love these slippers. I may have to give them a go. The wool plaid is just beautiful. I have a large foot so I think I will make an extra large slipper so it for sure fits.
