The story: A purse is cumbersome on the golf course but all you really need is some ID and a credit/debit card for the green fees, cart rental, and beverage cart. This little wallet holds only those essentials. It and my car keys fit in a pocket of my golf bag.
Pattern description: Craft Passion offers two free patterns that are similar.
Fabric used: Quilting cotton in two coordinating prints; a bit of interfacing.
Pattern design changes: This version of the wallet calls for making two seams-inside half wallets and slip-stitching them together along the unzippered edges. By starting and stopping the zippered seam 1 cm from the raw edge (i.e., at the seam allowance) I was able to sew all the seams entirely by machine, except for a turning gap of the lining seam. This seems a better way to sew a wallet, instead of relying on hand stitching to keep the halves together.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are illustrated but don't necessarily match the photos. No mention of topstitching the zipper, and they used their exterior print for the divider whereas the pattern said to use the lining fabric.
Conclusion: This pattern makes a nice little wallet for a few cards. There's room for a bit of cash as well. I added a clip to mine so that it won't bounce out of my golf bag if our cart has to traverse bumpy ground. This is a bit of a tricky project because there's a curved zipper seam and considerable hand basting. I wish the designer would merge the two patterns into one that uses a single divider (the one I sewed uses up a fair bit of the pouch's capacity) and finishes that exterior seams by machine as I did. It is nice that the second-generation pattern provides pattern pieces for all the components.

- The Zipper Pouch for Credit Cards uses wide twill tape as an interior divider (to organize cards) and to bind the interior raw edges. Dimensions are provided for each of the pieces.
- The Small Zipper Pouch is the second generation of the same pattern and results in a wallet the same size. This version encases seam allowances between the outer and inner fabrics and uses fabric for the dividers. I used this pattern, which includes printable pattern pieces.

Nice little pouch. The fabrics are obviously chosen very deliberately - cool! And thanks for mentioning a better way of sewing it. I am sure this will be more durable than hand sewing.

What a practical little wallet. It would be perfect for my long walks - just the essentials, nothing bulky or heavy. Thanks for the idea and the pattern information.
