Still on a waxed canvas kick, I looked for projects and kept seeing Dopp bags…so I made one! I looked at a lot of patterns and decided on this one because I was intrigued by using French seams to box the corners to get a tidy inside without the more common gap in the lining to pull the item through.
As mentioned right at the start, there is a lot of turning things inside out and positioning in new ways to sew…but if you follow the directions and the pictures, it actually all works out.
Sizing is casual. I sized mine by the zipper and the length of fabric I happened to have. My starting rectangles were 12x20 inches and as you can see, this is a bit boxy and less rectangular than most. Nevertheless, it’s functional and my husband says it will work fine to hold his toiletries.
ETA: this was about a 2 hr sewing project

This looks great and very functional with the boxy size. I can see how it would fit a lot and be easier to find things in here. Love the embroidered accent!

Another cute bag! Love the embroidery design on this one also. Looks like first-rate construction!
